The Port St. Joe Star has delivered news and information to Port St. Joe and the greater Gulf County community since 1937, twelve years after the founding of Gulf County and a year before the St. Joe Paper Company’s paper mill opened its doors.
In 2021, the newspaper was purchased by Neves Media Publishing out of Panama City, who committed to preserving the newspaper’s print edition and expanding their digital operations.
The Star is committed to serving the people of Gulf County through the responsible and fair pursuit of the truth.

Meet The Editor
Prior to then she interned for Oklahoma-based news wire service Gaylord News and for Oklahoma City-based online newspaper NonDoc.com during her four years at the University of Oklahoma, from which she graduated in May with degrees in online journalism and political science.
While at OU, Weitzel was selected as Carnegie-Knight News21 Investigative Fellow among 30 top journalism students from around the country. She also was senior editor managing a 12-person newsroom in coordination with Oklahoma Watch, a non-profit news organization in eastern Oklahoma.
